2011 FANNIN COUNTY FAIR HORSE SHOW GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

Check in begins at 8:00 AM -- Classes begin 9:00 AM

 

1.             There will be 3 divisions: 

1)     Fannin County 4-H / FFA Junior

2)     Fannin County 4-H / FFA Senior

3)     Open Youth or Adult from anywhere

2.             4-H and FFA exhibitors must be members in 4-H or FFA in Fannin County by the entry deadline, September 1, 2011.  (NO PASS, NO PLAY RULE APPLIES.) 

3.             4-H and FFA exhibitors may turn entries into 4-H/FFA Advisor.  Open entries postmarked by September 1st to HAT 281 CR 2650 Telephone, Tx 75488. 

4.             Fannin County 4-H and FFA members may also compete in the open division; Exhibitors will be eligible for only one high point award. 

5.             Fannin County 4-H and FFA classes are defined by 4-H age rules (NO EXCEPTIONS): Juniors – ages 9 through 13 years of age; seniors – ages 14 through 18 years of age, as of August 31, 2011. 

6.             Horse Ownership:  Exhibitor’s horse must be owned solely by the 4-H or FFA member, his parents (biological or stepparents), brother, sister, grandparents or legal guardian.  No leased or borrowed horses are allowed.  (This rule does not apply to the Open Division.) 

7.             There will be 6 All-Around buckles awarded:

1)     JR. Champion Fannin County 4-H / FFA & Reserve

2)     SR. Champion Fannin County 4-H / FFA & Reserve

3)     Open Champion & Reserve

8.             A minimum of 4 performance classes is required in order to be eligible for any All-Around buckle. All classes will be used in calculating All Around. 

9.             All-Around awards are calculated on one horse, one rider combination. 

10.          Halter classes are open to anyone of any age from any county. Points do apply toward all-around awards. 

11.          In the judged classes, the judge’s decisions and/or placings are final and NOT subject to protest. 

12.          Exception to Texas State 4-H Horse Show Rules and Regulations:  All horses must be 12 months old by date of show and any exhibitor showing a horse 12 to 18 months of age must be at least 14 years old (4-H age – must be a 4-H Senior). 

13.          Exception to Texas State 4-H Horse Show Rules and Regulations:  Any horse aged 5 and under may be shown two-handed in a snaffle bit in Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship and Trail. 

14.          Exhibitor is responsible for being on time for classes.  Three calls will be made for exhibitor and then entry will be scratched. 

15.          A copy of a current negative Coggins must be furnished at the gate going into the fairgrounds on the day of competition.  YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SHOW WITHOUT A CURRENT COGGINS – NO EXCEPTIONS! 

16.          When an exhibitor, exhibitor's parent, or person representing an exhibitor demonstrates poor sportsmanship, rudeness, unruly or dangerous behavior, the show management, judge, or class superintendent may suspend such exhibitor's rights to participate in the current class, future classes and/or current and future shows for such a period as deemed appropriate. 

17.          No stallions/stud horses allowed on fairgrounds during this show. 

18.          Please refrain from allowing your horse to be ridden by any other person while at the Fannin County Fair Horse Show.  Absolutely no double riding will be allowed. 

19.          Entry fees are $6.00 per class. 

20.          Office fee is $5.00 per horse.  You must fill out a separate entry form for each horse you enter. 

21.          Entry deadline is September 1, 2011 at 5:00 pm at the extension office or mailed to HAT 281 County Road 2650 Telephone, TX 75488.  LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED with a $20.00 FEE! 

22.          Points will be accumulated according to the State 4-H Horse Show points calculation method System C (2011 State 4-H Horse Show Rule Book, Page 11), which reads as follows:

System C.  For county shows.  Each of the first 10 horses in a class will be given a point for each horse placing below it, plus one point for a maximum of 10 points.

Example:  In a class of 15, first place receives 10 points, second receives 9 points, third receives 8 points, and so on through tenth place, which receives 1 point.

 NOTE:  If there are 10 or less horses in a class, then the maximum # of points to be awarded for 1st place is equal to the number of horses in the class.  

23.          Exceptions to Texas State 4-H Horse Show Rules and Regulations:  Tie Breakers for All Around:

1)     ) Greater number of 1st places followed by greater number of 2nd places, etc.

2)     Greater number of Classes

3)     Greater number of horses placed over in all classes (within division)

4)     Toss of a coin 

24.          Every exhibitor is encouraged to obtain, read and understand the 2011 Texas 4-H Horse Show Rules and Regulations. 

25.          WARNING – Under Texas Law (Chapter 87, Civil Practice and Remedies Code), an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities.
