DIVISION SPECIFIC RULES
1. Entries due Thursday, October 6th 2011, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at
Building at Multi Purpose Complex.
2. Plants / containers must be picked up Sunday, October 9 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.
3. Fruits and Vegetables must be displayed on disposable plates (provided).
4. Honey must be displayed in honey jar.
5. Cut flowers will be displayed in vases that are provided.
6. Hanging baskets must be wired for hanging.
1. General rules apply to this division.
2. Awards will be given in each class for
a. 1st place – Blue Ribbon
b. 2nd place - Red Ribbon
c. 3rd place – White Ribbon
3. Fannin County Master County Fair Horticulture Committee are not eligible to enter.
4. The flower show is open to any and all
Club members. The show is not a sanctioned Garden Club meet.
5. Entries will be judged on:
a. Eye Appeal
b. Freedom from disease
c. Freedom from insect damage
d. Freedom from other environment damage
6. The judge’s opinion will be final
7. Potted plants and hanging baskets must have been in possession and care of the
exhibitor for a t least 3 months prior to show.
8. Roses, annual and perennial cut flowers must be displayed in bases that are
provided.
9. All entries will be labeled at time of entry. Exhibitor should provide the botanical
Name and /or common name. Roses must be identified with the name of the rose,
e.g. “Mr. Lincoln”.
10. All entries must be free of disease, insects and other pests. Any entry deemed
Hazardous to other entries will be disqualified and removed.
11. Potted plants and hanging baskets must remain on exhibit throughout the fair.
They must be picked up between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday October 19, 2011.
The Fair Association and workers will not be responsible for damage to exhibited
Plants nor for plants left at the building after 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
1. Vegetables and fruit should be shown at the prime of their development.
2. Specimens should be free of unnatural blemishes, distortions, or irregularities in
shape or size.
3. Specimens in a single entry should be uniform in color, size, and shape.
4. When foliage is present, it should be fresh and of good substance.
5. Presence of worms, larva, other insects, arachnids, disease, or damage from any of
these will be penalized or disqualified.
6. Classes for large vegetables and fruit, e.g., Watermelon, cantaloupe, or pumpkin,
Only one specimen is required: for medium size, e.g., eggplant, squash, potatoes,
Garlic, and pears two(2) to three(3): and for small sized e.g., okra, pea pods, nuts,
Beans, six(6) to ten(10) specimens.
7. Vegetables and fruit will be shown on flat containers or plates provided.
